Get “off the beaten” track and join us for an incredible guided Tassie women’s wilderness day hike.

Meeting at Mount Field Information Centre, we will venture deep into the remote alpine section of Mount Field National Park, summit Abel and witness the turning of the fagus.

Rodway Range/Tarn Shelf Circuit

This is a difficult 15km hike that traverses through lush subalpine pandani forests, expansive boulder fields and idyllic glacial alpine tarns.

This Wild Island Women’s only adventure is suitable for ladies who can walk up to 7 hours. (Some short steep sections on the Rodway Range and boulder hopping ).


Meeting Point: Mount Field National Park Visitor Information Centre at 7:30 pm

Meeting time: 7:30 am. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure. We will start walking at around 9 am. Return to Mount Field by approximately 5 pm.

Distance: Approximately 15km in total. Plenty of rest stops on the way. Steep and uneven terrain. We recommend hiking boots.

Level: Moderate/Challenging

What if it’s raining?

Trips go ahead in all types of weather, except electrical storms. Please be prepared with a wet weather jacket and dry clothes to change at the end of the trip. We may change the trip due to weather.

Women over the age of 18 years.
