Since 2011, Tassie Bound has been guiding guests through Tasmania’s Valley of Love where rivers carve through ancient forests, mist clings to mountain peaks, and wildlife whispers to those who slow down. Our day kayaking tours on the Derwent River, Huon River, and Lake Pedder in Southwest National Park offer more than a paddle.
We’re locals, storytellers, and nature lovers. We share hidden gems and secret spots even lifelong Tasmanians rarely see. Every tour connects you to place, people, and purpose.
Beyond the kayak.
Each guest receives a guide to the Valley’s secrets where to spot a platypus at dusk, the best Tassie pie, and hidden hikes off the beaten track.
Empowering women, building community, nurturing the land Tassie Bound runs Wild Island Women, an adventure community supporting women to connect with nature and themselves.
Founder Fiona has spent over a decade advancing sustainable tourism, helping New Norfolk earn Tasmania’s Best Tourism Town and a national tourism award, and protecting native forests in the Styx and Florentine Valley.
Fiona also guides restorative equine-assisted sessions on their sanctuary property, with horses Bruce and Drummer helping women reconnect with themselves in gentle, transformative ways. Liam nurtures their permaculture garden and orchard, grounding the business in sustainability and care.
RSPCA inside rescue cats Kimba and Tiggy keep watch over the home and heart of Tassie Bound.

We rely on Tasmania’s pristine natural environment; plants, animals and the intricate ecosystems in which we operate represent many benefits to this area and the life that it harbours. The experience of our guests relies on the viewing of native animals in their natural habitat and the experience heightened by enjoying all the flora and fauna our tours have to offer. Biodiversity is extremely important to us, and without these levels of biodiversity, our business would not exist. With this in mind, we are committed to ensuring minimal environmental impact when passing through and enjoying these places.
